Solution

The Toys (EN71) Directive applies to any product or material which is designed or intended to be played with by a child under 14 years of age and which, if electrically charged, must not be supplied with more than 24V.


The European Commission officially published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) on 18 June 2011 the new harmonised standard EN71-1:2011 for the safety of toys in accordance with the new Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC (entry into force: 20 July 2011).


According to the new toy safety directive, all toys placed on the EU market after 20 July 2011 must comply with the new harmonised EN71-1:2011 standard for toys.
