X-ray fluorescence (XRF) is a rapid, non-destructive method of measuring substances.X-ray fluorescence (XRF) is the excitation of secondary X-rays when materials are bombarded with high-energy X-rays or gamma rays.


It is widely used for elemental and chemical analyses, especially in the investigation and study of metals, glass, ceramics and building materials, geochemistry, forensic science, archaeology and works of art such as paintings and frescoes.
